What is Quantum?

Quantum is the Thales design system for Digital products. The design system consists of design tools, component libraries, code snippets, design kits, guidelines and documentation that enables all projects to accelerate development, increase efficiency and maintain brand alignment through the reuse of validated components and design patterns.

How Quantum works

Quantum is based on best in class of industry standards, packaged, documented and fully compatible with Thales businesses needs and technical constraints (high accessibility, strong ergonomics & design, compatible of various technology legacy, based on the Thales brand standards...).

Quantum is open and inclusive - The design system is led by a dedicated core team supported by a distributed design guild. The design guild consists of members of the Thales entities who who have experience with design, front-end development or people who tried to build Design Systems in their own entities. The Guild are the Quantum ambassadors and the voice of the Thales user needs & provide support to the Thales’ Designers and Developers for the adoption.

The Quantum Guild contribute to the development of Quantum under a contribution model. This ensures the design system deliveries meet quality and brand expectations, and most importantly, meets the needs of its users.

This model is based on the Design System organization pattern standards to perform pair review on delivery quality and relevance but also to boost the contribution and increasing the number of assets in the Quantum common bucket.

Quantum is modular and flexible - Quantums modularity ensures maximum flexibility in execution. Its components are designed to work with each other, in whichever combination meets the needs of the user. This ensures a level of experience consistency without hindering the creativity of the designs that can be created.

Release 1.0 of Quantum provides design foundations, component libraries, code snippets, design kits and comprehensive design documentation for Web Repsonsive applications, that is reusable from one project to another. These assets are based on a common Design Language, with consistent look, feel, and patterns of use.

Quantum contains 80% of the needed set of styles, design assets (inc. hundreds of Variants, fully configurable, adaptative and extensible), standard patterns and 100% compatible implementation references that enable all project teams to design and build responsive web/cloud applications, ensure the bottom line performance, the design and front-development production and hand-off.

The comprehensive documentation will help your teams apply Quantum consistently. Teams can expect to be continually updated with best practices and recommendations for producing better products using the Quantum Design System.
